Some browser games keep records on your device; others save to an online account. A saved score does not automatically mean an unfinished run will resume. Check what the game actually stores before closing a tab with progress you care about.
Poppivo’s current browser demo keeps its saved-game list, records, history and settings in this browser when local storage is available. It has no account-based cloud sync. The waitlist only signs you up for product news; your email is not a backup of your game data.

Start by naming the progress you want
- Saved games: shortcuts to games you want to find again
- Records: your best results from completed runs
- History: a record of play, rather than a promise to restore the current board
- A live run: the exact situation currently on screen
These are separate features. In Poppivo, do not treat Save as a checkpoint button. It adds a game to your Saved list. Leaving or reloading a run can start it over, even when the game’s best result and your settings remain.
Why your records might be missing
First check whether you opened the same site in the same browser profile and on the same device. A different browser, a different profile or another phone can have a different local data store. An empty record there does not prove the original record was deleted.
Private browsing behaves differently too. Chrome’s Incognito guidance explains that site data from the session is removed after the Incognito session ends. Use a regular browser window when you want local game data to remain between visits.
Clearing site data can erase local saves. Browsers can also remove some stored website data under storage pressure, with behaviour that differs by browser. MDN’s storage guide explains these limits. Local storage is useful, but it should not be treated as an unconditional backup.
Check Poppivo’s storage status
Open Settings in the demo and look under Your data. The Storage row tells you whether local storage is available. If the demo is running with temporary storage, do not assume those changes will survive leaving the session. A storage error needs attention before you rely on another result being saved.
If there is a Retry control, use it and check the status again. Avoid clearing the browser’s data as your first troubleshooting step. That can remove the very records you are trying to find.
What Export does
Settings has an Export control that downloads your saved-game list, records, history and settings as a JSON file when storage is available. It gives you a copy to keep and inspect. The current demo does not offer an import button, so an export is not a promise of one-click restore or a resumable copy of the current run.
Reset local data is destructive. It erases what the demo stored in this browser profile. Do not use it to fix a missing score unless you actually intend to start over.
A quick check before you leave
- Finish the current run if you want its result recorded
- Check that Settings is not reporting temporary storage or a save error
- Return through the same browser profile and the same Poppivo address
- Keep an export before a planned browser cleanup if you want a separate record
If the original data has already been cleared and there is no other copy, Poppivo’s early demo has no cloud account from which to fetch it. Checking the original browser and profile is still worth doing before assuming it is gone.
To see what is playable without signing up, use the browser demo guide. For travel, the offline-play checklist covers a different question: whether a game can run without a connection.
